Grand Avenue Music have a successful history of running workshops throughout the UK with various age groups with unique needs. Clients have included The Arts Council, Cultures Club (Brighton), Wolverhampton Creative Partnerships, Brighton and Hove City Council, Devon Music Service, Brighton Voices in Exile, The Scarman Trust (mainstream and special schools), the Brighton Festival and the YMCA's Young Carers Festival 2008.

We can adapt and write workshops tailored to your needs should you have an interest in a certain area of music or a specific curriculum theme. Our tutors are also experienced at working with vulnerable groups with emotional literacy issues, learning or physical difficulties and survivors networks. All our tutors are fully CRB checked, experienced and trained to a high standard.

Gospel Voices/Singing session

This uplifting workshop explores the voice, teaches students how to control their breath, rhythm, movement and style. Singing popular songs from the charts and/or Gospel standards the participants increase confidence in themselves and experience the unity of singing as a group and seeing a project through from the beginning to successful end. This workshop requires no previous experience with music. The class will finish with a performance or recording of the group’s progress.

Songwriting

The song writing workshop can be booked as a one day session or an in depth 10-session master-class in various techniques that will benefit your song writing. The classes cover areas such as form, structure, performance, lyric writing and harmony. The workshop concludes with each student/group leaving having performed or recorded their song. Beginners to advanced sessions available.

Folk Song

This workshop provides an insight into the culture and history behind Irish folk music and its influence on pop music of the last 50 years. The workshop is taught through 5 academic history and culture lessons and then put into practice by learning a repertoire of Irish folk music. The aim of the workshop is to provide the student with cultural and historical awareness and give them a chance to perform some of the music that was influenced by these events. This workshop requires no previous experience with music.

Learn German through music, games, rhythm and singing.

This workshop provides a fun and engaging way to improve your language skills, pronunciation and discovering the ‘cool’ side of the German language, culture and music through discussion and singing pop songs in German. It requires no previous singing experience and is open to large or small groups. The class will finish with a performance or recording of the group’s progress.

Ukulele and Voice

This workshop provides the students with a knowledge and tuition of the most popular and played instrument in the world today – The Ukulele. This small instrument can be played with one finger and can be learnt within 5 sessions. Along side this, the workshop provides tuition and performance of 4 popular pieces of music on the Ukulele and vocals making the student self sufficient as a performer. The workshop culminates in a group performance
